Cape Town - The Springbok Sevens team will defend their IRB Sevens World Series title in a brand new jersey this season.

Team kit sponsor Canterbury unveiled the new playing outfit on Tuesday during a media launch at the SAAF Airfield Museum at Ysterplaat in Cape Town.
Still sporting the distinctive Green and Gold colours, the new design is however a striking departure from the previous jersey.
According to Canterbury, the jersey is manufactured from an extremely lightweight, quick-drying fabric which is designed to minimise sweating and to enhance the player's performance.
The jersey, shorts and socks are all made from South African materials.
Cuan Chelin, Super-Brands Chief Executive of Canterbury, said he was excited about the jersey: “Canterbury is proud that the Springbok Sevens will be defending their IRB Sevens World Series title in a dynamic new jersey. Cutting-edge design has been fused with advance technology, all on South African soil.”
Paul Delport, Springbok Sevens captain, said the new design is geared towards increasing the players’ performance. “The jersey is made from a lighter material which the players like and close-fitting style makes it more difficult to grab the jersey,” said Delport.
The team will wear the new jersey for the first in Dubai next month, where they will also defend their tournament title.
