Bees released on bail

Pretoria - South African Blue Bulls rugby player accused of the murder of a Pretoria police officer was released on bail on Monday, media and
officials said.

Jacobus Stephanus "Bees" Roux was released on a R100 000 bail after he appeared at a magistrate's court in Pretoria and will appear again in court on October 15.

"He is charged with murder," national prosecuting authority spokesman Mthunzi Mhanga told AFP.

Roux was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing 38-year-old police officer Ntshimane Mogale who had earlier pulled over Roux for suspected drunk driving, said police.

Police said Mogale was killed during an altercation after he had been severely assaulted and subsequently died, apparently from his
injuries.

However Roux’s lawyer, Rudi Krause, said his client was never arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol nor were any tests proving this conducted, reported radio 702.

Roux, 28, joined the Bulls in 2009 and in May played in the Super 14 final that saw his team beat fellow South African side the Stormers to retain the southern hemisphere title for a second year.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
