Bakkies back on Toulon radar

JJ Harmse

Pretoria – Bakkies Botha is again on the radar of French rugby club Toulon.

Reports from France state that Botha was on Sunday spotted in the south of the country where he apparently met Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal about a possible contract.

Rumour has it that Botha will be joining the club after the World Cup in New Zealand in 2011.

He also tried to leave the Bulls in 2008 to join Toulon, but the labour court found that his contract with the Bulls could not be broken.

The lock is recovering from an injury and is expected to be back in action for the Bulls by the end of April.

Botha’s Springbok team-mate Fourie du Preez has already indicated that he will be playing overseas after 2011. Du Preez will play for Japanese club Suntory Sungoliath.
