Baby Boks lose skipper

Cape Town - Junior Springboks coach Dawie Theron was forced to make two late changes to his team for Tuesday's crucial pool B clash against England at Cape Town Stadium.

Regular captain and flanker Wiaan Liebenberg did not recover in time from a wrist injury picked up at training and replacement flyhalf Tony Jantjies withdrew due to a sore knee.

Liebenberg’s place will be taken by Pieter Steph du Toit, with Khaya Majola replacing his KZN team-mate on the bench. Centre William Small-Smith, the regular vice-captain, will now lead the team.

Jantjies will be replaced by Marais Schmidt.

In one of the first matches of the day, Ireland beat Italy 41-12 at Cape Town Stadium, which means the Baby Boks must get a bonus-point win against England if they are to reach the semi-finals.

The revised team vs England (Tuesday 12 June 2012, kick-off 18:45):

15. Dillyn Leyds (Western Province) 14. Paul Jordaan (KZN) 13. William Small-Smith (Blue Bulls, captain) 12. Jan Serfontein (Blue Bulls) 11. Pat Howard (Western Province) 10. No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
