Sydney - Matt Giteau and Stirling Mortlock will play for a Barbarians team that has a strong Springbok flavour.
There will be a strong South African theme to a star-studded Barbarians lineup being cobbled together to meet the All Blacks in their end-of-year tour finale at Twickenham on December 5.
The Barbarians on Tuesday announced their first batch of big-name internationals to accept invitations to play for the famous invitation-only club, while they also confirmed the coaching combination of Italy's Nick Mallett and his former Springboks assistant Alan Solomons.
Among the marquee names to accept the first batch of invitations to line up against the All Blacks are Boks stars Victor Matfield and Bryan Habana who are both playing principal roles as the South Africans dominate the Tri-Nations competition with four straight victories.
The Wallabies' two best backs, Matt Giteau and Stirling Mortlock, have also accepted invitations to play, while Argentina's classy five-eighth and superboot Juan Martin Hernandez has also indicated he will line up against the All Blacks in the fixture that will bring the curtain down on the autumn of international rugby in the north.
It will be the first Baabaas experience for Mortlock, Matfield and Hernandez, though Giteau and Habana will both have a fair idea what to expect in the always entertaining annual fixture.
The sweet-stepping Wallaby inside back was a member of the Baabaas team that defeated the Springboks at Twickenham two years ago while the Boks' flying wing featured in a strong invitation lineup that took Australia to the wire in the London Olympic celebration match at Wembley last December.
Barbarian president Micky Steele-Bodger said there remained a strong link between the club and New Zealand rugby.
"Matches between the club and the All Blacks have always had a special resonance," he said on the Barbarians website.
"The classic game in 1973 remains an obvious memory for everyone but over the years the Barbarian club has continued to have positive links with the New Zealand rugby fraternity in general.
"Though they will be on the opposing side next December, the likes of Richie McCaw, Joe Rokocoko, Ma'a Nonu, Conrad Smith and Luke McAlister have all accepted invitations to play for the Barbarians in the last couple of years.
"Of course the quality of the All Blacks speaks for itself but we are confident that we will complete the recruitment of an outstanding squad ourselves for what promises to be yet another mouthwatering match."
Steele-Bodger was also rapt to have secured such a quality coaching combination. Mallett, who will get two cracks at the All Blacks on their tour (the first in Milan when his Italy side tackles Graham Henry's tourists), and Solomons combined to guide the Springboks to a then record 17 straight Test wins in 1998-99.
"Such a glittering squad deserves top quality coaches and we are delighted that Nick Mallett, a former Barbarian in his own right in his playing days, and Alan Solomons, who has coached with us previously and very successfully, have also accepted invitations for the match."
This year's tour-ending extravaganza will be the latest in a series of 10 fixtures between the two sides that stretch back to 1954. It will be the fifth time they have met at Twickenham and the first since 2004.
