Sydney - Wallabies forward Scott Higginbotham has been cited twice for an incident involving All Blacks skipper Richie McCaw in the drawn Bledisloe Cup Test in Brisbane on Saturday.
Higginbotham was cited for punching or striking McCaw during the incident in the 26th minute of the 18-18 draw at Suncorp Stadium, the Australian Rugby Union said on Sunday.
An initial hearing will be held by duty judicial officer Jannie Lubbe on Monday via a conference call.
New Zealand coach Steve Hansen was angered by the incident.
"I saw the head-butt-- it's another cheap shot," Hansen said at the official post-match news conference.
"He (McCaw) seems to get them every week but everyone seems to miss them."
McCaw admitted after the match that he was annoyed at the time and expected the judicial process to take its course against Higginbotham.
"It's on TV so it will get dealt with," he said.
"It does get frustrating at times and annoying but there's not much I can do about it."
