Cape Town - All Black legend Jonah Lomu was a fan of Twitter, posting regular updates to his 79 000-plus followers up until Monday - two days before his sudden death.
Lomu had been in Dubai in the days leading up to his passing, - spending time with his family and friends.
Lomu passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 40.
He had been diagnosed with a kidney disorder when he was 20, and was put on dialysis three times a week.
Those issues forced Lomu to retire from international rugby in 2002.
The former All Black wing's Twitter page also reveals his softer side as he sent out messages of love to those affected by the Paris attacks over the weekend.
