South Africa top tennis player, Kevin Anderson, has jumped 13 spots on the official ATP rankings.

This follows his run to the final of the Citi Open in Washington last week where he was defeated by Germany's Alexander Zverev.

4. CASTER STANDS HER GROUND

Caster Semenya has proved herself once again after winning bronze in her first major 1 500m final at the IAAF World Championships in London.

Semenya has been in the spotlight following a study funded by the IAAF and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) that showed female athletes with naturally high levels of testosterone enjoy a competitive advantage of up to 4.5 percent over their rivals.

Springbok coach Allister Coetzee is still pondering over his captain for the upcoming Rugby Championship.

Regular captain Warren Whiteley was withdrawn from the Bok squad due to a groin injury and there's a need for a new man to step in and take on the All Blacks (Gulp?)!
