Mont Ventoux - Who's saying what after Chris Froome retained the Tour de France yellow jersey despite crashing into a motorbike on Thursday:
"What a finish. Ventoux is full of surprises."
- A relieved Froome after being presented with the yellow jersey he initially thought he'd lost.
"I don't want to take it (the yellow jersey) like that, I want it with my legs and not a crash."
- Adam Yates, who was initially announced as the new race leader, after finding out he's still second.
"Maybe next year he'll run the Paris marathon!"
- Froome's Sky team manager Dave Brailsford sees funny side of Froome running up the final climb on Mont Ventoux after ditching his broken bike.
"This may NOT happen in the biggest race of the World!! There has been too many accidents with motos last year!"
- Tweet from Bauke Mollema who crashed in the same incident as Froome, and didn't find it funny.
"What's going on? Seems like everybody gets time bonuses. I wonder what would have happened if I would have been the only one to go down..."
- Still on Twitter, an angry Mollema suggests Froome might have had preferential treatment.
"If you can't control the crowds what can you control? It's not really the motorbikes, it's the crowd. They're just in your face the whole time, pushing riders and at the top there, that was just crazy."
- Richie Porte, the third rider taken down in the crash, is also unamused.
"You can stop running now Chris Froome -- you're still in the #yellow jersey."
- Team Sky's official twitter account's tongue-in-cheek comment on a photo of Froome running.
"Just like the fans, you're better off with trainers on Ventoux."
- French rider Romain Bardet is another enjoying the 'Running Man'.
"I got pushed, Serge (Pauwels) got pushed, we almost crashed. There wasn't even room for one moto."
- Stage 12 winner Thomas De Gendt explains the difficulties he had in the final kilometre when riding against Belgian compatirot Pauwels for the victory.
"I was just riding up behind the favourites group and I had a gendarme basically stiff-arming people out of the way just to keep me upright."
- American Peter Stetina of Trek explains how French gendarme police helped him through the sea of fans.
"These are race circumstances and situations which we've all suffered."
- Froome's main rival Nairo Quintana takes a nonchalant approach to the Briton's travails before finding out the results have been changed and he'd lost, not gained time on the Sky leader.
