Armstrong crash in stage 8

Les Rousses - Seven-times champion Lance Armstrong crashed seven kilometres into the eighth stage of the Tour de France, race organisers said on Sunday.

The 38-year-old American came off his bike along with 10 other riders, including world champion Cadel Evans of Australia, who is second overall, 1:25 behind Sylvain Chavanel of France.

It was not immediately clear whether Armstrong sustained any injuries, but he made it back to the peloton with the help of three RadioShack team mates.

Before the start of the 189-km stage to Morzine-Avoriaz, Armstrong was 14th overall, 3:16 behind Chavanel.
