Cape Town - The owner of Teazers, Lolly Jackson, has undertaken to pay SA's 800m golden girl Caster Semenya R20 000. In return, all he wants is for her "to hold her head up and benefit from her achievements".
Jackson has been accused of exploiting Semenya in an ad campaign. Semenya is currently embroiled in a gender dispute.
A Teazers billboard states that the strip club's dancers "don't need any gender tests". But, says Jackson, it has nothing to do with Caster.
He said the campaign was designed to make it clear that Teazers employees are "100% woman".
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) claims that the ad is centred around Semenya and is in bad taste. Teazers have responded to the ASA's claims.
Calling Caster one of SA'S finest female athletes, he said the problem with the entire situation is someone innocent being drawn in.
"We would like Caster to enjoy her success rather than the negativity that has followed her. Ultimately she brought home gold and if it was not for mismanagment would not be embroiled in this saga."
“Teazers is proudly South African”, added Jackson.
