Cape Town - One of the strongest line-ups in many years will turn out in the two-day Hansa Fish River Canoe Marathon, incorporating the SA K1 River Championships, in the Eastern Cape starting on Friday.

All eyes will be on Len Jenkins who will be out to extend his unbeaten run in the race since his record breaking win in 2001.

Team-mates Hank McGregor and Grant van der Walt are also expected to put up a challenge.

The competitive nature of the men’s race is echoed in the women’s clash in what could be the strongest women’s field to take on a major river race.

Robyn Kime will have to fight off Jen Theron, Michele Eray and current ICF Canoe Marathon World Series champion Hilary Pitchford.

The 48km first stage starts at Grassridge Dam and finishes at Knutsford, with the 36km second stage finishing at Cradock Sports Fields.
