Fikile says 'bye, bye bye' to Twitter

Cape Town - Former Minister of Sport and Recreation Fikile Mbalula has said "bye" to his nearly 700 000 Twitter followers after his role came to an end on Thursday night in President Jacob Zuma's cabinet reshuffle.

Mbalula was named the new Minister of Police, having previously served as deputy minister of police in 2009, before being moved to sport in 2010.

Thembelani Nxesi, the former minister of public works, will fill Mbalula's former Minister of Sport and Recreation role going forward.

It remains to be seen whether Mbalula, a prolific tweeter, stays true to his word.
