Chipfumbu discharged, heading home

Cape Town - Zimbabwe’s Sylvester Chipfumbu suffered a broken orbital bone and a cheekbone fracture in his flyweight championship bout against Nkazimulo Zulu at EFC 62 on Saturday, August 19.

Following surgery, Chipfumbu is expected to make a full recovery.

Chipfumbu was taken directly to hospital after his bout with Zulu. After a weekend spent in post-operative care, he was discharged on Monday and flew home to Cape Town.

“We are glad that Sylvester’s operation was a success, and that we could offer him full medical cover together with our partner Constantia Insurance,” said EFC President Cairo Howarth.

“Heal up quick Sylvester, we’re looking forward to seeing you compete again soon.”

“I’m still swollen from the operation but looking good and on the mend,” said Chipfumbu via telephone.

“I couldn’t wait to get home to my friends and family in Cape Town. I’d just like to thank EFC and Constantia Insurance for looking after me.”
