No mood for small talk

Johannesburg - On November 7, Angola’s wrecking machine Bernardo ‘Black Panther’ Mikixi faces Cape Town’s Brendon Groenewald in a heavyweight clash.

Mikixi is re-entering the Hexagon for the first time after his loss to Sors Grobbelaar and is not in the mood for small talk... as this Q & A reveals.

Will you be using this fight as the chance to make a statement? Make an example of Brendon?

Yes.

We haven't seen much of Groenewald apart from his loss to Gideon Drotschie (EFC AFRICA 18), where he was clearly not on form. How do you rate his skills?

He is a good fighter. It just wasn't his night.

He ate a few hard shots from Roelof Scheepers (EFC AFRICA 16). Can he stay standing after a few of yours?

No he won't stand it.

You spoke of being a more technical fighter against Grobbelaar (EFC AFRICA 21). Will you be looking to go back to your wild style in this fight?

Just wait and see. November 7 is not far.

How do you see this fight going?

First round, that's all I can say.

You started your SA life in Cape Town, your family living there for some time. At the last Cape Town event you had a great night against Calven Robinson (EFC AFRICA 13). How does it feel to be going back?

I am very excited. Most of my fans are in Cape Town.

Do you have any words for Brendon?

None.

Is there anything else you'd like to say?

No. Can I get back to my training now?

EFC AFRICA 25, presented by MusclePharm, takes place on Thursday, November 7 at the GrandWest Grand Arena, Cape Town. Tickets on sale now at www.computicket.com. Stream the entire event, live an in HD, from efcafrica.tv.
