Barcelona - Distance swimmer Myles Brown and Karin Prinsloo have continued their medal harvest in the pool on the third and final leg of the Mare Nostrum Series in Barcelona over the weekend.

Brown came from behind to claim the gold medal in the men's 1 500 metre freestyle on Sunday to add to the silver he won in the 400m freestyle the day before.

The South African swimmer was embroiled in an arm wrestle with Pal Joensen of the Faroe Islands, with his competitor leading the race until the final two laps which saw Brown touch first in a time of 15 minutes, 10.02 seconds (15:10.02).

Joensen finished just behind in second place, posting a time of 15:10.38 with Stephen Milne of Great Britain winning the bronze medal in 15:15.82.

On Saturday, Brown could not chase British swimmer Guy James down in the 400m freestyle event.

James claimed first place in a time of 3:48.11 with Brown clocking 3:49.83 for the silver medal with Spain's Duran Navia Miguel finishing in third place with 3:52.24.

Prinsloo added the women's 400m freestyle bronze medal to the silver medal she won in the 200m freestyle on Saturday.

Britain's Jazz Carlin was in rampant form as she won the race in a time of 4:04.03 with Coralie Balmy of France taking second place in 4:07.84 while Prinsloo grabbed the remaining podium spot in 4:09.98.

On the first day of the meet Prinsloo continued her fantastic form in the 200m freestyle event to bag the silver medal in a time of 1:57.36 with Russia's Veronika Popova winning the gold medal with 1:56.20.

Briton Siobhan-Marie O'Connor finished in third place posting a time of 1:57.86.
