Banyana to prep for AWC

Johannesburg - Banyana Banyana go into a one week camp on Monday in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, as part of their preparations for the 2014 African Women's Championships (AWC).

Their preparations for the ninth edition of the AWC started on a positive note with the team's 4-0 victory over Botswana in an international friendly match played in Vanderbijilpark last week.

"We have to continue with the training and not give players a long break out of camp," head coach Vera Pauw said in a statement.

"Every camp is important for us as it gives us time to work on our play and other departments that we have to improve on ahead of the African Women's Championships."

Jermaine Seoposenwe, who joined the Samford University soccer team in Alabama, US, at the start of their 2014 season, had been invited to the camp.

"The squad we currently have is the core of the team. We need to solidify them as we work towards our goal of becoming a force to be reckoned with in international women's football," Pauw said.

'There are players that we will still look at before we finalise the squad for African Women's Championships, hence we have invited Seoposenwe to the camp."

Training camp squad: Vilakazi, Amanda Sister, Janine Van Wyk, Letago Madiba, Nomathemba Ntsibande, Lebogang Mabatle, Simphiwe Dludlu, Nelisiwe Mchunu, Amanda Dlamini, Gloria Thato, Alocia Thoboka, Sanah Mollo, Lebogang Ramalepe, Tina Selepe, Leandra Smeda, Refiloe Jane, Mamello Makhabane, Mphumi Nyandeni, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Shiwe Nongwanya, Silindile Ngubane, Ode Fulutudilu, Chantelle Essau, Portia Modise, Noko Matlou.
