Smith vs Steyn

Cape Town - Graeme Smith and Morné Steyn are neck and neck in the race to grab the Sport24 Performance of the year Award, and your vote might decide it.

Things are reaching fever pitch as two of South Africa’s biggest sports stars go head to head in a two horse race to win the coveted Sport24 Performance of the Year award.

South African cricket skipper Graeme Smith and Springbok flyhalf Morné Steyn have raced ahead of the rest of the pack with just over two weeks left to vote and it’s up to you to decide who walks away with the prestigious award.

Will it be by the hand of Graeme Smith or the boot of Morné Steyn which pulled at your heart strings in 2009? In January Graeme Smith walked out to bat with a broken finger in a bid to stave off defeat against the Aussies, while Morné Steyn’s boot came to the rescue in the decisive Test against the British and Irish Lions. Both performances will go down as great moments in South Africa’s rich sporting history but which one will be enough to win the Sport24 Award?

In the Plonker of the Year category, Ras Dumisani seems to have sung his way into infamous history after butchering the national Anthem so publicly, but with Athletics South Africa’s Leonard Chuene in the mix for his shocking handling of the Caster Semenya saga, a late charge could still see him sneak the award in the final bend.

It’s quite literally your call … Voting is totally FREE, and closes on January 31. You could win a replica Springbok jersey and a case of Corona beer for just casting your vote.
