Paris - Caster Semenya, the world champion at the centre of an international gender storm, faces another delay over her future after it was revealed on Wednesday that medical testing is still not complete.

The South African, who took the 800m world title in Berlin in the summer, was expected to learn her fate on Friday at a high-level IAAF meeting in Monaco.

But the IAAF said that talks were still ongoing.

"The IAAF, the South African Ministry of Sport and Recreation and Caster Semenya's representatives have been and still are in discussions with a view to resolving the issues surrounding Caster Semenya's participation in athletics," said an IAAF statement.
"The IAAF will not comment upon the medical aspects of Caster Semenya's case. The medical testing of the athlete is still to be completed.

"There will be no discussion of Caster Semenya's case at the forthcoming IAAF Council Meeting to be held in Monaco on November 20 - 21."

The IAAF has numerous options open to them - they could ban her from competing again, require that she undergo surgery, or take no action.

Leaked test results said Semenya was a hermaphrodite, sparking anger from the South African public and government, who have rallied behind the athlete.

Athletics South Africa (ASA) was suspended by the country's national Olympic committee this month over its handling of the Semenya row.

The decision came after ASA boss Leonard Chuene was suspended pending an investigation after admitting he knew about the gender test conducted on the athlete prior to the world championships.

@MEl - I hope you have a child(or grandchild) like her - maybe you will then be a little sensitive.

@mel...I believe you have no grasp of what the situation really is... perhaps you should consider a bit more listening and a little less ignorant rhetorical question asking.

I like her. At least she's got BALLS, something the Springboks certainly don't have. Maybe Pieter de Villiers should consider her for BOK selection, couldn't be worse than his other selections.

so they have 3 options now: to BAN!, to order surgery, or none. how can they even consider banning as an option. this is not her fault, so how can they punish her and ban her for that? as for the forced surgery: that is entirely her choice, no one else can tell you how you should look. if they make a choice it should be that she must compete in the male category then - easy!

Mel, she was actually created by "Man"....ie. her parents! There were no miracles here or in any other childbirth.

"She didn't have any say in the way God created her, so how can Man...?" That's literally retarded. Man can use scientific measures to classify what god created... if he/she made a bit of a woopsie. Reminds me of Adam having to 'name the beasts' in Eden. lol.
The reality of this is sad situation is...11/18/2009 10:14 PM
had he been born in different circumstances ie not in a poor family in a third world country this would have been picked up and surgery performed .He is not woman and being raised as one does not make him one irrespective whether "the village" insists he is one or not! He only had to look in the mirror or to have reached adolescence to know himself that he is not a woman. It's unfortunate that like so many disformed children from poor countries(see my shocking story on BBC) he is being made a spectacle of and behind closed doors a laughing matter .The fault lies really with the very stupid people who thought they could cheat the world and get away with it .Just because in South Africa the most ridiculous things are being sold to the people as being OK doesn't mean that the rest of the world is buying in.

New question needs to be answered. ASA and IAAF can boil the whole saga down to one question, without any operations or medical interference. WHICH CHANGEROOM DOES SHE GO INTO AT AN ATHLETIC MEETING. She didn't have any say in the way God created her, so how can Man.
