SBW's boxing plans hit a snag

Sydney - Sonny Bill Williams's plans to box in South Africa may be on hold for now, despite receiving an offer to fight.

South African boxing promotions company Golden Gloves told South African media they have offered the Chiefs and All Blacks star a bout on June 16.

"We have given him an offer to fight in the country on June 16. It would be nice to have Williams come down to the country. We are hoping that he will," said Golden Gloves representative Brian Mitchell.

Mitchell said they were waiting on Williams's representatives to get back to them but the SBW camp will have to decline the offer given the All Blacks play Ireland in New Zealand on the same day.

Several media reports have linked Williams to a bout in Cape Town recently and he is set to join Wallaby flyhalf Quade Cooper in a Sevens tournament in South Africa in December.

Williams and Cooper will play for an 'all-stars' team and are expected to be paid around $NZ16 000 for the week-long tournament.
