SA name 20-strong squad

Johannesburg - The SA women's hockey squad arrived in London on Wednesday for the start of their tour of Great Britain and Scotland starting this week.

Coach Giles Bonnet named a 20-member squad, spearheaded by world record goal scorer Pietie Coetzee and veteran captain Marsha Marescia, for two Tests against Great Britain on Thursday and Friday.

Team manager Les Galloway said the squad would be re-evaluated ahead of a five-Test series against Scotland in Glasgow next week.

The South Africans then return to the English capital for the London Cup tournament as they continue their build-up to the London Olympic Games.

SA squad:

Mariette Rix, Vuyisanani Mangisa, Kate Woods, Illse Davids, Marsha Marescia (captain), Shelley Russell, Dirkie Chamberlain, Lisa Deetlefs, Kelly Madsen, Pietie Coetzee, Jennifer Wilson, Lesley-Ann George, Nicolene Terblanche, Lenise Maraise, Kathleen Taylor, Bernadette Coston, Lauren Penny, Jade Mayne, Tarryn Bright, Sulette Damons.
