Cape Town - Ryan Sandes proved once again why he is the best ultra marathon off-road runner in the world by winning the 2010 Hi Tec Puffer Ultra Marathon in dramatic weather conditions.
Not only did he win the 80km mountain race from Cape Point to the V&A Waterfront, he did so in record time smashing the previous record for the course by more than 16 minutes in an epic time of 6:57:25.
The second-placed runner, Nic de Beer was an hour and 18 minutes behind Sandes, finishing in a time of 8:15:13.
The first lady to finish was Karoline Hanks who came in fourth overall in a time of 8:26:33.
The 80km Puffer trail run from Cape Point to the V&A Waterfront is considered the Grand Daddy of Trail racing in South Africa.
