Pocket Power does it again

Cape Town - The mighty Pocket Power has done it again and looks set to race overseas in the future.

The 12-10 favourite for Saturday's J&B Met over 2 000m at Kenilworth put his name into South African record books.

This victory brings his career earnings to over R7,5m - with 14 victories from 28 outings.

Jockey Bertnard Fayd'Herbe was both breathless and almost speechless after the race. He has partnered Pocket Power in all his recent victories and admitted to feeling the pressure when Dancer's Daughter, that had dead-heated with him in last year's Vodacom Durban July, looked to have the measure of him. But the great horse put his head down and surged forward to take his third J&B Met by a neck from Dancer's Daughter.

Pocket Power's full sister, River Jetez, was up there with them and took third place ahead of Kapil that finished 3-1/2 length off the winner.

Mike Bass, Pocket Power's trainer, acknowledged this was the best horse he had ever trained and paid tribute to his racing team as well as Bernard Fayd'Herbe's superb handling of the horse.
