Shark survivor wins bronze

London - Achmat Hassiem has won a bronze medal for South Africa in the men's 100m butterfly S10 final at the 2012 London Paralympic Games on Saturday.

Hassiem’s foot was bitten off by a shark in 2006 when he deliberately attracted the predator to save his brother, Taariq, during a lifeguard training exercise in the water off Sunrise Beach, Muizenberg.
