No freestyle medal for Chad - bookies

Cape Town - Chad le Clos will come up empty-handed in the final of the men's 200m freestyle at the Rio Olympics - if bookmakers are to be believed...

Le Clos, who was third fastest in 1:45.89 in the heats, finished seventh-quickest in the semi-finals in 1:45.94.

As a result, Le Clos will swim in Lane 1 in Monday night's final (Tuesday at 03:21 SA time).

However, leading SA bookies Sportingbet have installed Le Clos as the sixth-favourite for the gold at 25/1.

China's Sun Yang, the silver medallist in the 400m freestyle over the weekend, is the 1/5 favourite, followed by Japan's Kosuke Hagino (10/1) and American Conor Dwyer (12/1).
