Moolman happy with top 10 finish

Rio de Janeiro - South African Olympic cyclist Ashleigh Moolman was content with a 10th-place finish in the Women's Road Race event on Sunday.

The 30-year-old from Pretoria posted a time of 3:52:41, finishing one minute and 14 seconds behind gold-medallist Anna van der Bruggen of the Netherlands.

"I'm happy with a top 10," Moolman said. "Disappointed not to get a medal but I have another go in the time trial on Wednesday and I'll do my best."

Emma Johansson of Sweden and Italian Elisa Longo Borghini took the silver and bronze medals respectively, while Moolman's team-mate An-Li Kachelhoffer finished 39th.

The South African will now look to improve on that showing in the time trial on Wednesday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
