BANYANA BANYANA HOLD ON FOR DRAW

Brazil threatened the net on several occasions throughout the fixture, particularly during the closing 20 minutes, but 0-0 it stays. Catch you later. The SA women didn't score a goal in three matches at the Rio Games. That's it for them, they're eliminated. Bafana Bafana v Iraq later. Cheers.

10 Aug 03:38

OH WELL, MOVING ON...

We'll have the Banyana Banyana result for you a bit later, after which we're in for some cycling with the women's individual time trial, rowing, equestrian, sailing and football. The biggest draw cards for South Africans, though, will be Bafana Bafana's match against Iraq and the men's Sevens' team against Australia.

10 Aug 03:32
Neck and neck, but Phelps wins it. Le Clos not in the top three. No medal for Le Clos. A whopping 20 Olympic gold medals for the American. Dear Chad will be back for the 100m butterfly finals at 7:16pm SA time tomorrow.

10 Aug 03:31
Phelps well in front at 150. Le Clos second.

10 Aug 03:31
Le Clos now third after 100, Phelps still in the lead.

10 Aug 03:30
Le Clos not in the top three after the first 50m, Phelps in the lead.

10 Aug 03:29
And we're off... after a brief delay due to noise and fake whistles in the crowd...

10 Aug 03:19

AS PLEDGED, WE'RE BACK

Banyana Banyana underway against Brazil, still 0-0 there. And, in the meantime, Chad Le Clos is getting ready to race against Michael Phelps - and some others - in the men's 200m butterfly final.

09 Aug 21:55

WE'LL BE BACK...

...in about six hours, to see Chad Le Clos chase gold - against Michael Phelps in particular.

09 Aug 21:50

SOUTH AFRICA WIN

The final score is 26-0. SA didn't concede a point - against France and Spain - today. They'll face the Aussies tomorrow.

09 Aug 21:47
The game got a bit sleep for a minute, but Dylan Sage livens things up, romping through for his first Olympic try. Converted too. SA up to 26. France yet to get off the mark.

09 Aug 21:44
The restart hasn't brought any points, yet, despite the teams' best efforts to cross the whitewash. Three minutes to go during a rather sluggish second half.

09 Aug 21:38
Geduld's deft chip ahead from 50m out pops up nicely, ultimately sending captain Kyle Brown through. SA 19-0 up against France at half-time.

09 Aug 21:35
A fleet-footed Kwagga Smith puts in a wonderful 70m run, complemented by some lovely side-stepping, to take SA 12-0 up. Afrika makes it 14. Two and half minutes to go in the first half.

09 Aug 21:32
Dylan Sage to Cecil Afrika and Africa to Justin Geduld. Quick passing, indeed, brings SA their first try nice and early. Afrika converts under the poles. SA 7-0 up.

09 Aug 21:21

MEN'S RUGBY SEVENS

And we're back, with South Africa minutes away from playing France. Australia have just beaten Spain, who SA also trumped earlier.

09 Aug 19:42

SHORT BREAK

Catch you just now for more Sevens, when South Africa take on France. SA, remember, easily beat Spain earlier.

09 Aug 19:38

SA HAVE NOT QUALIFIED FOR THE 4 X 200M FREESTYLE FINAL

Shock! Horror!

09 Aug 19:25

SA FINISH FIFTH

US win, Netherlands second, Italy third. That might not be enough to get South Africa into the final.

09 Aug 19:24
Into the final 200 we go. SA have fallen back significantly.

09 Aug 19:22
South Africa slip to second after the second 200. US in the lead. Michael Meyer into the pool.

09 Aug 19:19
SA in the lead afte the first 200 thanks to Devon Myles Brown. Sebastien Rousseau into the pool now...

09 Aug 19:17

ONTO THE MEN'S 4 x 200m FREESTYLE RELAY

Team South Africa represented by Le Clos, Brown, Meyer and Rousseau in lane seven. And we're off...

09 Aug 19:15

TWO-WAY EXIT

So, to confirm, neither van der Burgh nor Crous have qualified for the men's 200m breastroke semi-final. Sad, but true.

09 Aug 19:10

CROUS FINISHES LAST

The UK's Andrew Willis wins it, while Crous finishes stone last in the eight-man heat.

09 Aug 19:06

CROUS' TURN

Can he do better than van der Burgh's seventh?

09 Aug 19:05
VAN DER BURGH FINISHES A DISAPPOINTING SEVENTH

09 Aug 19:02
Van der Burgh fallen to third at the 100m mark.

09 Aug 19:02

MEN'S 200m BREASTROKE HEAT

And we're off. Van der Burgh is in lane two and is in the lead at the 50m mark.

09 Aug 19:01

SWIMMING

We've got you covered in the pool with the following over the next hour or so... Jarred Crous and Cameron van der Burgh will be in the 200m breaststroke heats, while Le Clos, Brown, Meyer and Rousseau will be in the 4x200m freestyle relay semi-finals.

09 Aug 17:54

ROWING

South Africa win the Men's Fours, with Belarus second and Russia third. SA through to the semi-finals at about 2:30 in the morning on Wednesday.

09 Aug 16:50

SOUTH AFRICA BEAT SPAIN 24-0

Good start to the men's Sevens campaign for SA, who will be in action again against France at 21:30 this evening

09 Aug 16:46

SNYMAN!

Afrika almost completes his hat-trick, but the ball goes loose, with Philip Snyman eventually cleaning up to fall over the line. Afrika hooks the conversion wide. SA 24-0 up.

09 Aug 16:42

SENATLA!

The restart sees South Africa counterattack from 80 metres out, with Seabelo Senatla putting in the finishing touches. Afrika doesn't get the two points this time. SA 19-0 up.

09 Aug 16:38

AFRIKA!

Afrika, again, this time with a David Campese-esque goose step to score under the poles. And he's spot on with his conversion, too. So that's Cecil Afrika 14; Spain 0 at half-time.

09 Aug 16:33

SA V SPAIN KICKS OFF!

Cecil Afrika breaks away early to score in the opening two minutes - and then converts superbly from the corner, so that's a quick 7-0 lead.

09 Aug 05:23

BLITZBOKS IN ACTION

The SA men's Sevens side start their campaign against Spain at 16:30 SA time.

09 Aug 05:23

DON'T MISS!

The highlight from an SA point of view on Day 5 in Rio will undoubtably be the "rematch" between Chad le Clos and Michael Phelps in the 200m butterfly
