It's all over for Lynique Prinsloo in the women's long jump qualifying, too. She needs a best leap of 6,75 for automatic qualification, but only gets as far as 6,10.

ATHLETICS

Now onto the men's 400-metre hurdles semi-finals. SA's LJ van Zyl. He holds second spot for the opening 20 seconds, but fades poorly, finishing fifth in a time of 49:00. No final for him.

A whopping 10 heats of men's 200-metres en route. SA's Anaso Jobodwana in the second of 'em. He finishes fourth with a time of 20:53. That's not good enough for qualification for the next round.

The men's 10-kilometre open water swim ends with SA's Chad Ho securing a very creditable 10th position. No medal, but that's a damn fine effort. His time is 1:54;04 - not far behind winner Ferry Veertman of the Netherlands (1:52;59) at all.
