ATHLETICS

Heat three of the men's 110-metre hurdles brings SA's Antonio Alkana joy - his time of 13:64, for a fifth-place finish, is enough for the next round.

SAILING

We'll be back with Asenathi Jim and Roger Hudson's results in race eight, nine and 10 of the men's 470 later.

ATHLETICS

Last, but hopefully not least, it's LJ van Zyl in lane eight - in the closing heat of the men's 400-metre hurdle. He finishes second with a time of 49:12 - and qualifies for the semi-finals stage. So, one out of three for SA in the men's 400-metre hurdles.

15 Aug 17:11

ATHLETICS

Lindsay Hanekom, in heat five of the men's 400-metre hurdle, also finishes second last with a time of 50:22. No qualification there, too.

15 Aug 17:02

ATHLETICS

Here's heat four of the men's 400-metre hurdles. Le Roux Hamman finishes second last, with a time of 49:72. He definitely won't qualify for the next round.

ATHLETICS

The men's 400-metre hurdles heats - four, five and six - will be with you shortly. Le Roux Hamman, Lindsay Hanekom and LJ van Zyl in action.

CANOEING

Bridgitte Hartley of South Africa comes third in the semi-final of the women's kayak single 200-metre, too. This time around, she clocks 41:47 - a smidgen better than her finish earlier. It's all quick enough for a berth in the B final.

15 Aug 16:06

SWIMMING

The women's 10-kilometre concludes, with SA's Michelle Weber finishing outside the medals, but consoling herself with a creditable top 20 finish - 19th, in fact. Seventh last, effectively.

15 Aug 15:47

CANOEING

South Africa's Bridgitte Hartley puts in a time of 41:69 to finish an impressive third in the women's kayak single 200-metre. That books her a semi-final berth.

15 Aug 15:41

ATHLETICS

SA's Godfrey Khotoso Mokoena completes his third leap in group B of the men's triple jump. His best is 16,51 metres, but that's not enough to see him advance.

15 Aug 14:51

ATHLETICS

Fourth heat of the women's 200-metre now, as Justine Palframan lines up for SA in lane six. She finishes fifth, clocking 22:33, and she won't qualify for the semi-finals either.

15 Aug 14:45

ATHLETICS

It's heat three of the women's 200-metre, with South Africa's Alyssa Conley in lane four. She finishes fourth, with a time of 23:17, and that's definitely not enough for semi-final qualification.
