Cape Town - South Africa's Chad le Clos and American legend Michael Phelps were part of a three-way tie for silver in the 100m butterfly final on Friday in Rio.
Le Clos, Phelps and Hungary's László Cseh unbelievably all shared second place in 51.14, but were well beaten by Singapore's Joseph Schooling in 50.39.
The silver breaks a sequence of four golds in Rio for Phelps, and gave Le Clos his second silver after his runner-up finish in the 200m freestyle.
The race was Phelps' final individual Olympic event.
He will however swim in the final of the 4x100m medley relay.
