Kenya names 50-strong athletics team for Rio

Eldoret - Kenya's world 400m hurdles champion Nicholas Bett was a surprise inclusion in the 50-strong squad selected after the team trials at Eldoret's Kipchoge Keino stadium on Friday.

Bett, who became the first Kenyan athlete to win a world title in the sprints at the Beijing World championship last August, missed the trials held in Eldoret for the first time.

In a family twist, his twin brother Aron Koech breezed to victory in the 400m hurdles race, but he was disqualified for stepping on the outside lane.

Koech was however also named into the Olympic team and will compete alongside his brother in Rio.
