Cape Town - Amaglug-glug head coach Owen Da Gama says he will send his side out to attack and score goals in their must-win clash with Iraq.
The South Africa under-23 side sit bottom of Group A in the Rio Olympics men's soccer competition, and only a win will give the team any chance of reaching the quarter-final stages.
They drew with 0-0 against Brazil in their opening game before losing 1-0 to Denmark in their second match.
Amaglug-glug have to beat Iraq and hope that the Brazil against Denmark result goes in their favour.
Da Gama told the national football association's official website: "We need to attack and score goals against Iraq - that is the only way we can qualify. We have created many chances in the two matches we have played but still have not put the ball into the back of the net."
He added: "We are not going to focus on Iraq on what they can and cannot do; we are going to play to our strengths. This is our chance to write our names in history and at this stage it is up to the players to rise up to the occasion."
Wednesday's crucial clash with Iraq gets underway from 03:00 (Thursday morning in SA) at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo.
