Caster thanks SA for love and support

Cape Town - Caster Semenya, South Africa's latest gold medal winner at the Rio Olympics, took to social media to thank her legion of fans for their love and support. 

Semenya cruised to victory in the women's 800m at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday night (Sunday morning, SA time). 

South Africans took to Twitter soon after Semenya had crossed the finish line, congratulating her for incredible achievement of not only winning gold, but setting a personal best as well as a new South African record of 1.55.28.

Semenya acknowledge all the support she received in a post on her Facebook page. 

"I wish that i was able to express the way I feel right now. I can't find the right words to express my feelings.

Thank you everyone for supporting me throughout the championship, for showing me love and for believing in me.

To my fellow South Africans. Here is OUR medal. WE made it!"
