Bolt eyes 200m world record

Cape Town - After retaining his 100m title, Usain Bolt says is targeting the 200m world record at the Olympics in Rio.

The Jamaican sprinter won his third consecutive 100m Olympic gold medal, the first male to do so, when he came from behind to beat the field in the final on Sunday.

Bolt did not run his fastest race in the 100m but blamed that on the fact that there was a quick turnaround between the semis and final on the same day.

The 29-year-old though will keep going on his quest for three gold medals in Rio, with the 200m next up - the Heats starting on Tuesday and final scheduled for Thursday.

Bolt said: "This is one of the biggest things. I really want [the] 200m world record. If I can get a good rest after the semi-finals, there's a possibility I could.

"When it comes to the 200m, I'm much more confident. The 100m is always the hardest one for me."
