Semenya on track for medal?

Cape Town - South African track star Caster Semenya posted the third fastest time after the heats for the women's 800m at the 2012 London Olympics on Wednesday.

Semenya, running in Heat 1, finished second behind American Alysia Montano, in a time of 2:00:71. Montano posted the quickest time in the heats in 2:00:47.

Favourite for the gold medal, Kenya's Pamela Jelimo, was second quickest overall in a time of 2:00:54.

Semenya has been drawn in Heat 2 of the semi-finals on Thursday evening, starting at 20:30 SA time.
