Louw falls short in semi

London - South Africa's Gideon Louw has failed in his bid to reach the final of the men's 100m freestyle at the Olympic Games on Tueday night.

Louw finished in a time of 48.44 but it wasn't enough to claim a top eight spot for the final. He finished tied for 9th place after the completion of both heats.

James Magnussen from Australia was the fastest swimmer over both heats, with a time of 47.63.
