Le Clos withdraws from final

Cape Town - Speaking to 5FM Radio, Bert le Clos confirmed that his son Chad le Clos has withdrawn from the final of the 200m individual medley and will rather focus on the 100m butterfly.

It is believed that it will improve his chances of getting another medal if he withdraws from the event.

Le Clos has sneaked into the final of the men's 200m individual medley at the Olympic Games on Wednesday evening.

He finished fifth in his semi-final heat, claiming an overall joint seventh spot with a time of 1:58.49.

America's Ryan Lochte finished first overall in a time of 1:56.13.

Le Clos on Tuesday won the gold medal in the 200m butterfly.
