Heartbreak for Schoeman

London - SA swimmer Roland Schoeman has finished sixth in the final of the men's 50M freestyle as Florent Manaudou claimed gold in 21.34 seconds.

Cullen Jones of the United States won the silver, with Cesar Cielo of Brazil taking bronze.

Schoeman touched in 21.80 seconds in his fourth and final Olympic competition.

Schoeman improved on his qualification place of eighth for the final and swam a strong race, but finished outside the medals.

The 32-year-old remains South Africa's most decorated Olympic medallist in a single Games, winning gold, silver and a bronze medal in Athens, in 2004.
