Johannesburg - Sports minister Fikile Mbalula's vision of revolutionising sport is set to take off with a focus on development of school sport, reports the Sowetan.
Mbalula has called for the introduction of University and SA School Sport Games to replace the South African Games.
According to Mbalula, this will be a yearly all-inclusive tournament in which all future sportsmen and women will compete.
Mbalula also announced that a new federation governing school sport will be formed soon, similar to the now defunct United School Sport Association of South Africa.
He said he wanted to see more resources channeled to school sport as South Africa would not be able to produce quality athletes if development was neglected.
