Martial Eagle stuns J&B Met

Cape Town - Martial Eagle (Yogas Govender/Aldo Domeyer) sprang an 80/1 shock to overcome a poor draw to land the prestigious Grade 1 J&B Met by a neck.

Hill Fifty Four at odds of 22/1 finished second with Beach Beauty finishing one and a half lengths back in third.

The win was only the second Met ride and first Grade 1 win for Aldo Domeyer, son of former champion jockey Andrew Fortune.

2/1 favourite Jackson finished a disappointing fifth, and second favourite, 2012 Durban July winner Pomodoro, finished in fourth.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
