Johannesburg - Olympic gold medallist Chad le Clos says he hopes to improve on his first-leg performances when he turns out in the second leg of the Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar, this weekend.
Le Clos, who won the overall title in last year's World Cup series, bagged two gold medals in the opening leg in Dubai last week, and he said on Friday he was hunting for more when the Doha event kicks off on Saturday.
"I am looking forward to swimming in Qatar and have been making good steps in the right direction," he said.
"I am hoping to improve on my times here in Doha and will concentrate on the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly events."
Cornel Marculescu, the executive director of global swimming body Fina, paid credit to Le Clos ahead of the two-day meet, after the South African edged ahead of American legend Michael Phelps to win the men's 200m butterfly title at the London Olympic Games.
"A new star was born in London when Chad Le Clos beat the most popular man in swimming, Michael Phelps," Marculescu said.
"We all wondered whether there would be life after Michael Phelps, but Le Clos came along and beat Phelps in London."
