McGregor to be MMA's first $100 million earner?

Cape Town - Conor McGregor became the UFC’s undisputed featherweight champion on Saturday night with a one-punch knockout of his rival Josè Aldo at UFC 194.

With his star factor reaching new heights every day, McGregor is set to be a very rich man once it’s all said and done according to Nick Strickland of MMALatestNews.com.

UFC’s CEO Lorenzo Fertitta also predicts the featherweight champion will become very wealthy. Talking to ESPN.com on Tuesday, Fertitta said that he thinks McGregor would be “our first $100 millionaire”.

Fertitta went on to explain that the number would come from fight night earnings, bonuses, pay-per-view revenue and not his earnings outside of the Octagon which include indorsment deals with Monster Energy, BSN nutrition, Reebok and an autograph deal with Fanatics.

This of course is all assuming that McGregor continuously dominates his opponents.

To put it into perspective here is what McGregor received for his UFC 194 bout on Saturday.

- $500,000 fight purse.

- $50,000 performance bonus.

- $40,000 reebok outfitting deal.

- Will get a cut of the revenue from the PPV buys which is expected to be well over a million buys.

The 27-year-old McGregor will have to stay relevant to reach that golden $100 million mark.

With no opponent yet set, there has been talk that McGregor would fight the winner of the lightweight bout between Donald Cerrone and champ Rafael dos Anjos or the No. 1 contender Frankie Edgar.

The former light weight champion secured his No.1 spot with a K.O of Chad Mendes just 24hrs before McGregor dispatched Josè Aldo.

Fertitta, who did not disclose a final number for McGregor’s UFC 194 earnings said that his quick stoppage of Aldo “left people wanting more.”
