Jamaica Olympic team confirms '08 dopings

Kingston - The Jamaican Olympic Association says it has received notice that an athlete from its 2008 team tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

Last month, the International Olympic Committee announced there had been 31 positives from six sports after retests of 454 samples that were held from the Beijing Olympics. Another 21 positives have been discovered in retests from the London Games.

Typically, after a positive test, an athlete's "B'' sample is tested to confirm the initial positive.

The JOA, which announced the positive test Friday night, would not release the name of the athlete, citing confidentiality rules.

All but five of the 49 Jamaicans who competed in the Beijing Games did so in track and field.
