Cape Town - Former world boxing champion Gerhardus "Gerrie" Coetzee appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court for allegedly running an unregistered dental business, the Cape Argus reported on Friday.
Coetzee, 57, was in the dock on Thursday for allegedly working as a dental technician in October 2010 without being registered with the SA Dental Technicians Council.
If convicted, he could be fined up to R10 000.
Coetzee won the World Boxing Association title in 1983 and had 66 wins in his career. He retired from boxing in 1993 and went into the dental business.
He recently gave that up for a handyman business.
He will return to court on July 19.
