Former SABC sports guru dies

Johannesburg - SABC sports commentator Dan Setshedi has died after a long illness, the broadcaster reported on Sunday.

Setshedi, 80, who was affectionately known as "Tshimega", died on Saturday night, the SABC said in a news bulletin.

He reportedly joined the SABC as an announcer in 1964, starting at Radio Bantu then moving to the SABC sports department in the 70s. He retired in 1991.

Veteran Broadcasters' Forum chairperson Bernard Koma, who worked with Setshedi, told the SABC funeral arrangements were still being finalised.
