Cape Town - The South African pair of Lawrence Brittain and Shaun Keeling won the silver medal in the men's pairs rowing competition at the Rio Olympics.
They finished in a time of 7:02.51, 2.80 seconds behind the New Zealand pair of Eric Murray and Hamish Bond who stopped the clock in 6:59.71.
Marco Di Costanzo and Giovanni Abagnale of Italy finished in third.
In London in 2012, SA memorably won the men's Lightweight Four gold medal.
Although that feat couldn't be replicated in Rio, a silver medal is certainly better than leaving empty-handed!
Making the duo's result even more remarkable is that Brittain recently beat cancer.
Thank you all for the support! It has been amazing! Such a journey Big ups and big downs! pic.twitter.com/ynZ2YwZV0R
