Double gold for Team SA?

Cape Town - Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika could ring out not once, but twice, at the FINA World Championships in Barcelona on Wednesday night.

Chad le Clos is the overwhelming favourite to add the 200m butterfly title to his London Olympic gold over the same distance.

Le Clos, drawn in Lane 4, is expected to face his stiffest opposition from Poland's Pawel Korzeniowski and China's Wu Peng.

The race will take place at 18:23 SA time.

Meanwhile, Cameron van der Burgh has been heavily backed to add the 50m breaststroke title to the 100m silver he won on Monday.

Like Le Clos, Van der Burgh was the fastest qualifier into Wednesday evening's final, posting a time of 26.81 in the semi-finals, 0.14 outside of his current world record of 26.67.

A second South African, Giulio Zorzi, will also contest the final. Zorzi has been drawn in Lane 8.

The men's 50m breaststroke race is scheduled for 18:41 SA time.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
