World's top cyclist - Rodriguez

Paris - Spaniard Joaquin Rodriguez has ended the cycling season as the world number one, according to rankings released by the International Cycling Union (UCI) on Monday.

Countryman Alberto Contador, who won his third Tour de France yellow jersey in July, was second with Belgian Philippe Gilbert, who won the Tour of Lombardy for the second consecutive year Saturday, in third place.

Rodriguez notably finished second to Australian Cadel Evans on the Fleche Wallonne semi-classic and won the difficult 12th stage of the Tour de France to Mende. He later finished fourth overall on the Tour of Spain.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...
