Suicide won't affect dope case

2011-01-11 16:13

Madrid - The court investigating a doping ring says that mountain bike rider Alberto Leon's suicide will not affect its probe.

The 37-year-old Leon was among 14 people detained by authorities last month in Operation Galgo, an investigation into doping in Spanish athletics.

He was also detained in 2006's Operation Puerto, which implicated more than 50 cyclists.

Neither the Civil Guard nor the Madrid court would confirm or deny whether any doping substances or equipment were discovered in the San Lorenzo del Escorial residence where Leon was discovered on Monday.
