Paris - Cervelo Test team have ended speculation about Carlos Sastre's inclusion in this year's Tour de France by telling their former champion to get ready for the July 3-25 event.

Sastre was not planning to race the Tour de France, having just completed a near disastrous Giro d'Italia. He suffered three crashes before finishing in eighth place overall behind champion Ivan Basso.

However the Spaniard's team said on Monday they would be counting on Sastre, who won the yellow jersey in 2008 with CSC-Saxo Bank, for the race, which begins in Rotterdam on July 3.

Until then Sastre is assured of total rest. He is not scheduled to race any events, including the Spanish national championships on June 27.

Fellow Spaniard Alberto Contador, of Astana, will start as this year's yellow jersey favourite after his second career victory last year.
